BlueData was founded in 2012 by VMware veterans and headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company was acquired by HPE in December 2018.

BlueData is now HPE Ezmeral Container Platform (hpe.com/info/container-platform) and HPE Ezmeral ML Ops (hpe.com/info/mlops) software.
