We are a startup for paludic culture, agriculture on wet moor areas. Our team consists of the Venture Buildern Lucas Gerrits and Paul Waldersee as well as the experienced entrepreneurs Aljoscha Kaplan, Florian Forstmann, Niko Waesche and Christian Wessel. We work closely with the Greifswald Moor Centrum and thereby combine entrepreneurship, agriculture and science for a start -up project unique in Germany.
Background:
Moore are the largest natural carbon capture technology that we have: when they originate thousands of years ago, they enclosed biomass and processed it into peat. In addition, bogs provide important ecosystem services for biodiversity, regulate the water balance and the regional climate and deliver important recreation rooms for us humans.
The problem: In Germany we drained 95% of our moor areas for peat cuts, settlement and agriculture. The effects are only known today: dried bogs are responsible for almost 7% of German greenhouse gas emissions and 38% of the emissions of agriculture. In order to comply with the climate goals, we have to reverse more than 50,000 hectares annually - the rate is currently around 1,000 to 2,000 hectares per year. To accelerate this, we need agriculture, which manages 80% of the dry moor areas in Germany. Paludic culture, agriculture on wet moor areas, must provide an economic perspective for this.
As a future moor, we want to accelerate the rehearty and build up value chains for paludic culture. At the start we are looking for a dry moor area of approx. 1,000 hectares. We want to reverse these and implement our paludi company as a lighthouse project. At the same time, we will build up exploitation chains with industrial partners to offer other farmers a real alternative.

Erst heute sind die Auswirkungen bekannt: Trockengelegte Moore sind für knapp 7% der deutschen Treibhausgasemissionen und 38% der Emissionen der Landwirtschaft verantwortlich. Um die Klimaziele einzuhalten, müssen wir jährlich mehr als 50.000 Hektar wiedervernässen – aktuell liegt die Rate bei ca. 1.000 bis 2.000 Hektar pro Jahr. Um dies zu beschleunigen, brauchen wir die Landwirtschaft, die 80% der trockengelegten Moorflächen in Deutschland bewirtschaftet. Paludikultur, die Landwirtschaft auf nassen Moorflächen, muss hierfür eine wirtschaftliche Perspektive liefern.
Als ZukunftMoor wollen wir die Wiedervernässung beschleunigen und Wertschöpfungsketten für Paludikultur aufbauen. Zum Start suchen wir eine trockengelegte Moorfläche von ca. 1.000 Hektar. Diese wollen wir wiedervernässen und unseren Paludibetrieb als Leuchtturmprojekt umsetzen. Parallel dazu werden wir mit Industriepartnern Verwertungsketten aufbauen, um anderen Landwirtinnen und Landwirten eine echte Alternative zu bieten.
