La mission de POSITHOT est de faire de la spectrométrie d’annihilation de positons un outil industriel pour faire évoluer le de contrôle non destructif vers la métrologie des manques de matière et de l’endommagement des matériaux.
Cet objectif est aujourd’hui réalisable grâce à la technologie non radioactive de production de positons de basse énergie, développée par le CEA, et dont POSITHOT a la licence exclusive.
Issu des développements de l’Institut de Recherche sur les Lois Fondamentales de l’Univers (IRFU) au CEA de Saclay, POSITHOT garde des liens étroits avec l’expérience GBAR (Gravitational Behavior of Antihydrogen at Rest) dont l’objectif est la mesure directe de la constante gravitationnelle de l’antimatière.
