[Automatic translation follows] National Laboratory of Scientific Computing

Founded in 1980, the National Laboratory of Scientific Computing (LNCC) is an institution linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI).
Leader in scientific computing, the LNCC is the central link of Sinapad (National High Performance Processing System), in which the most powerful Santos Dumont supercomputer in Latin America stands out. With multidisciplinary performance, LNCC researches and develops solutions to complex problems in the most diverse areas of knowledge, among them: astronomy, sports, biosciences, drugs, medicine assisted by scientific computing, processing and safety of big data, oil and gas, climate and environment, etc.
Since its inception, the LNCC has published over 2,500 scientific articles and more than 200 books, including chapters. It developed more than 500 research projects, with seven (7) patents deposited, one of them with the USPTO of the United States. It developed more than 500 software, having registered 11 of them.
Located in Petrópolis, the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, LNCC also works in the postgraduate degree in Computational Modeling, which, since 2010, is concept 6 in CAPES. By 2018, 297 masters and doctors were formed.
