Description

Providing 1.8 million meals annually to our hungry and homeless neighbors in need!

Our mission is simple. We aim to provide hot and nutritious prepared meals, delivered and served to feed hungry families, children, seniors, veterans, students, and disabled individuals in our Bay Area community. All are welcome, no questions asked.

Our vision is ambitious. We want to create as many avenues as possible to ensure that anyone in need of a meal in our community has access to nutritious and high-quality food. We partner with over 74 agency partners to provide meals to 135 locations, including meal service sites, low-income senior retirement centers, community centers, shelters, transitional programs, faith-based organizations, schools, and after-school programs.

We operate two centralized kitchens in Morgan Hill and have a fleet of trucks, including four specialized hot/cold temperature-controlled delivery trucks, and four refrigerated A La Carte food recovery trucks, and four cargo trucks.

In 2019, Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen integrated A La Carte into our portfolio of services to feed hungry and homeless individuals throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. A La Carte is a unique and innovative program designed to change how food recovery is being approached while addressing the issues of hunger and waste. Performing all aspects of the program's operations - from partnership development and support to delivery and distribution - Loaves & Fishes will double our meal service capacity to over 1.8 million meals each year.

A La Carte is a fleet of trucks that drive throughout the Bay Area collecting surplus prepared and packaged food from corporate campuses, cafeterias, commissaries, grocery stores, and catered events for delivery to neighborhoods throughout the Bay Area. A La Carte offers a no-cost, convenient, and dignified experience as people struggle to feed themselves and their families.
