Cheval Espérance, association loi 1901, est un centre équestre, situé à 10 minutes du centre de Rouen, et spécialisé dans l'accueil des personnes en situation de handicap, qui accueille chaque semaine plus de 200 personnes, enfants et adultes, souffrant de handicap de tous ordres, physique, mental, cognitif, psychique ou social.
Cheval Espérance a pour vocation d'aider les personnes à sortir de la solitude, à découvrir leurs propres richesses, de les accueillir telles qu'elles sont, en respectant toute leur dignité d'homme, de femme, d'enfant, de les aimer et de les accompagner afin de se remettre en selle, au physique comme au moral.
Par son encadrement, l'association souhaite les aider grandir peu à peu dans la confiance pour qu'elles puissent s'ouvrir pleinement à l'autre, et au goût à la vie au-delà de leur handicap, vécu bien souvent difficilement.
Cheval Espérance est un centre d'équitation de petite taille, adapté aux séances d'équitation à visée thérapeutique et d'équitation adaptée, dans un espace ergonomique (lieu et matériel), afin que chaque personne accueillie puisse se sentir à l'aise et évoluer sereinement, et dans une ambiance conviviale,
Le centre souhaite être un lieu de rencontre et d'entraide proposant un véritable chemin de liberté et d'amitié.
Chaque membre de la commission thérapeutique tient à promouvoir la dignité de la personne handicapée en élaborant un suivi personnalisé dans la durée et en la rendant prioritaire sur toute chose.
Cheval Espérance est aujourd'hui un projet pilote en France qui renverse le fonctionnement habituel, la personne en situation de handicap y étant prioritaire.
