East Japan Railway Company (JR East) is one of the world’s largest railway companies and a market leader in railway operations and maintenance. Every day, our 44,000 dedicated employees efficiently operate and manage 11,800 trains and our 7,400-kilometer network, including Tokyo metropolitan, high-speed, and regional railways, with cutting-edge technology, serving 16 million passengers. Since our establishment in 1987, following the privatization of Japanese National Railways, we have continuously enhanced our railways to make them safer, more reliable, convenient, and sustainable.

The JR East Group is developing various businesses overseas, primarily in Asia, such as supporting the advancement of the Indian High-Speed Railway, providing rolling stock and maintenance services for the MRT Purple Line in Thailand, and providing technical support to a railway operator in Indonesia. By taking advantage of its combined strengths in the mobility and lifestyle solutions fields, the JR East Group will deploy railway infrastructure systems that have high levels of quality and efficiency and provide lifestyle-enriching solutions mainly in Asia but also in other regions.
