    Créé en 1999 par l’écrivain Alexandre Jardin, Lire et faire lire est un programme national d’ouverture à la lecture et de solidarité intergénérationnelle, porté par la Ligue de l’enseignement et l’UNAF.
    Dans l’objectif de partager le goût de la lecture et des livres, des bénévoles de plus de cinquante ans interviennent dans diverses structures dédiées à l’accueil collectif des enfants, auprès de petits groupes, de 0 à 12 ans.
    Sur des temps scolaires, péri ou extra-scolaires, ces bénévoles formés interviennent une fois par semaine, dans des écoles, crèches, bibliothèques, centres de loisirs et bien d’autres, pour des moments de lecture-plaisir.
    Les séances de lecture sont toujours préparées en concertation avec l’équipe éducative dans le cadre du projet de la structure d’accueil, et sont adaptées aux âges des enfants bénéficiaires (temps de lecture, ouvrages présentés,...).
