The Ants (Acronym English Acronym for Sport and Advanced Neuro-Reducative Therapies-Advanced Neuro-Rehabilitation Therapies & Amp; Sport) was created in 2015 by Vance Bergeron, CNRS research director at the Lyon ENS physics laboratory.
Following a bicycle accident in 2013, Vance Bergeron became incomplete quadriplegic. During his hospitalization, he decided to found an association with other teeths sharing the passion for sport, with the support of the CNRS, the ENS of Lyon and the Civil Hospices in Lyon (HCL).
Subsequently, he decided to redirect his field of research towards neurological rehabilitation and more particularly on muscle electrical stimulation. He wishes, through this association, to create a missing link between research and the community of people with motor disabilities to associate sports and technological advances.
The mission of our team is to make the practice of physical activities accessible to people with motor disabilities, by providing latest generation facilities and equipment. It is through this mission that we will open the S.P.O.R.T room (Stimulating People and Organizing Therapies).
The objectives of the Ants association:
- Promote dedicated sporting events
- Finance research around neurological rehabilitation and neuroprothèses
-Be an actor in the deployment of access to new technologies of neuro-reeducation and in re-socialization
- Awareness of the general public as well as elected officials to technological innovations, responding to the mobility issues of people with engine neurological disabilities

Notre mission : nous travaillons pour améliorer la qualité de vie des personnes en situation de handicap neuromoteur.
L’association ANTS (acronyme anglais pour Sport et Thérapies Neuro-rééducatives Avancées – Advanced Neuro-rehabilitation Therapies & Sport) a été créée en 2015 par Vance Bergeron, directeur de recherche CNRS au Laboratoire de Physique de l’ENS de Lyon.
Suite à un accident de vélo en 2013, Vance Bergeron est devenu tétraplégique incomplet. Durant son hospitalisation, il décide de fonder une association avec d’autres tétraplégiques partageant la passion du sport, avec le soutien du CNRS, de l’ENS de Lyon et des Hospices civils de Lyon (HCL).
Par la suite, il décide de réorienter son champ de recherche vers la rééducation neurologique et plus particulièrement sur la stimulation électrique musculaire. Il souhaite, par le biais de cette association, créer un lien manquant entre la recherche et la communauté des personnes en situation de handicap moteur pour ainsi associer entrainements sportifs et avancées technologiques.
La mission de notre équipe est de rendre accessible la pratique d’activités physiques aux personnes en situation de handicap moteur, par la mise à disposition d’installations et d’équipements de dernière génération. C’est à travers cette mission que nous allons ouvrir la salle S.P.O.R.T (Stimulating People and Organizing Therapies).
Les objectifs de l’association ANTS :
- Promouvoir des événements sportifs dédiés
- Financer la recherche autour de la rééducation neurologique et des neuroprothèses
- Etre acteur dans le déploiement de l’accès aux nouvelles technologies de neuro-rééducation et dans la re-socialisation
- Sensibiliser le grand public ainsi que les élus aux innovations technologiques, répondant aux problématiques de mobilité des personnes en situation de handicap neurologique moteur
