The research carried out within CRIDES unfolds from the intrigue initiated by the concomitant invention of economic law (Sherman Act, 1890), labor law (end of the 19th century) and tax law (institution of tax on income, late 19th-early 20th century) on economic activities.
At stake, from this moment on, is the question of how it is appropriate to supervise and guarantee, through regulation, protection and support, the “sustainable” exercise of the freedoms to work and undertake: no competition without competition law, no freedom of work without labor law, no coexistence between social emancipation and competitiveness without market policy and social policy, no tax policy of incentive and redistribution of wealth generated by economic activity without tax rights.
Since then, literally, positive law has built the playing field of social bond in the broadest sense (that is to say under the modalities, as well, of competition and competitiveness as of solidarity or redistribution), both between the different economic actors and between these actors and the State.
Among the different factors that govern this environment, four legal dimensions stand out while being called upon to adjust.

Les recherches menées au sein du CRIDES se déploient à partir de l’intrigue initiée par l’invention concomitante du droit économique (Sherman Act, 1890), du droit du travail (fin du XIXème) et du droit fiscal (institution de l’impôt sur le revenu, fin XIXème-début XXème s.) sur les activités économiques.
Est en jeu, dès ce moment, la question de savoir comment il convient d’encadrer et de garantir, par la régulation, la protection et le soutien, l’exercice « soutenable » des libertés de travailler et d’entreprendre : pas de concurrence sans droit de la concurrence, pas de liberté du travail sans droit du travail, pas de coexistence entre émancipation sociale et compétitivité sans politique de marché et politique sociale, pas de politique fiscale d’incitation et de redistribution des richesses générées par l’activité économique sans droit fiscal.
Depuis lors, littéralement, le droit positif a construit le terrain de jeu du lien social au sens le plus large (c'est-à-dire sous les modalités, aussi bien, de la concurrence et de la compétitivité que de la solidarité ou de la redistribution), tant entre les différents acteurs économiques qu’entre ces acteurs et l’Etat.
Parmi les différents facteurs qui régissent cet environnement, quatre dimensions juridiques se distinguent tout en étant appelées à s’ajuster.
