La CGAD représente les entreprises de l’artisanat, du commerce alimentaire de proximité et de l’hôtellerie-restauration. Elle rassemble 16 Confédérations nationales.

Au sein de la CGAD, les représentants des différentes professions ont la volonté de défendre ensemble des revendications communes à toutes les entreprises alimentaires de proximité.
La CGAD a pour vocation de promouvoir les entreprises, leur savoir-faire, la richesse et la qualité de leurs produits auprès des décideurs économiques et politiques.
Elle assure également la promotion des métiers auprès des jeunes, de leur famille et des enseignants.
Chaque année, elle met à l’honneur 33 jeunes qui reçoivent le Rabelais des Jeunes Talents de la Gastronomie.
La CGAD participe très activement à l’organisation de la formation professionnelle du secteur.
Communiquer, informer et conseiller font partie également des missions de la CGAD.
