- d'organiser, développer et contrôler la pratique de l'Athlétisme, sous toutes ses formes, dans le cadre de la délégation accordée par le Ministère chargé des Sports et dans celui du développement durable, à savoir :
l’Athlétisme en stade (courses, sauts, lancers, épreuves combinées et marche athlétique) ; l’Athlétisme hors stade (cross-country, courses et marche athlétique, marche nordique, courses à pied en nature dont les trails et la course en montagne sans utilisation de matériel ou technique alpine, sur itinéraire matérialisé) ;
- de défendre les intérêts moraux et matériels de l'Athlétisme français ;
- d'assurer la représentationg de l'Athlétisme français sur le plan international.
