Su función es promover los principios fundamentales y valores del Olimpismo en el Perú, velar por el respeto de la Carta Olímpica, fomentar el desarrollo del deporte de alto nivel y el deporte para todos, ayudar a la formación de dirigentes deportivos, actuar contra todo tipo de discriminación y de violencia en el deporte, adoptar y aplicar el Código Mundial Antidopaje, fomentar y apoyar medidas en relación con la atención médica y la salud de los atletas.
