Fondé en 1896, le LOU Rugby (Lyon Olympique Universitaire) est l’un des clubs les plus anciens figurant à ce jour au sein de l’élite française du ballon ovale. Il a évolué huit ans en PRO D2, avant d’intégrer le TOP 14 en 2011. Présidé par Yann Roubert depuis 2012, il est constitué de différentes structures : l’Association, avec plus de 750 jeunes licenciés ; la SASP LOU Rugby, sa branche professionnelle, qui mobilise un tissu important de partenaires économiques de premier plan ; un Centre de Formation de catégorie 1, outil fondamental pour attirer et développer les jeunes talents.
Évoluant au Matmut Stadium de Gerland depuis Janvier 2017, le LOU modernise ce stade historique pour en faire une enceinte à la pointe de la technologie, intégrant l'un des plus beaux réceptifs de France pour accueillir les partenaires.
Outre GL events, son principal actionnaire et la Matmut, ses partenaires majeurs sont, du côté des entreprises, Serfim, BFM Lyon, le Crédit Agricole Centre-Est, Implid, 6ème Sens Immobilier, Eiffage, Vicat, Macron et M com ; qui se mêlent à la Région Auvergne Rhône-Alpes aux 300 autres entreprises qui accompagnent le développement du club.
