The VED association (Vinci Eco Drive) is a student association of automobile construction.
It was founded nine years ago within the Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci, in La Défense.
It gathers more than 80 students from 3 different schools: ESILV (engineers), EMLV (managers) and IIM (digital).
The objective of this association is to imagine, design and build electric cars through two innovative and ambitious projects.
=> 1st project: the Efficiency Prototype: a 100% electric vehicle whose objective is to consume as little energy as possible. We have been building a prototype every year since 2013. Our record of distance covered is 3731km for an electric consumption equivalent to 1liter of SP95 gasoline.
Our current prototype is called NOVA.
=> 2nd project: the Formula Student: a real electric racing car, its objective is to be efficient, agile and fast on circuit. We have been working on this car for 3 years to participate in competitions from the summer of 2024.
This association wants to be a pole of competences and ambitions allowing the students to carry out a project from A to Z. The association has an unshakeable will to realize cars by its own means. If some parts impossible to machine are ordered, the rest is entirely manufactured by the association in its workshops.
The Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci allows to mix in an intrinsic way the courses and the projects, each one benefiting to the other.
Outside the current health context, VED participates in international races such as the Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM), the Albi Eco Race and the EcoGreen Challenge. These high-profile inter-university car races bring together more than 3,500 students and 40,000 spectators from all over Europe.

Vinci Eco Drive est l’association étudiante de sport et de construction automobile du pôle Leonard de Vinci, situé à la Défense. Depuis 10 ans, les membres de l’association, venant des trois écoles de l’association Léonard de Vinci, se transmettent un savoir-faire et continuent d’innover sur tous les aspects, que ce soit la fabrication de pièces en fibre de carbone, l’usinage de différents composants en acier et aluminium ou encore le développement des systèmes embarqués. Cette transmission de l’expertise au sein de toutes les promotions a permis aujourd’hui à Vinci Eco Drive de mener deux projets innovants et ambitieux, chacun dans un registre différent.
Le premier projet, celui lié à l’histoire de Vinci Eco Drive, est le Prototype d’Efficience. Son but : parcourir le maximum de distance en utilisant le minimum d’énergie possible. Pour atteindre cet objectif, le prototype possède une forme la plus proche possible d’une goutte d’eau afin d’obtenir une pénétration dans l’air optimale. Un moteur électrique allié à une batterie de 48 volts nous ont permis d’établir notre record à 3731 km avec l’équivalent d’un litre de sans plomb 95 et aussi de décrocher la 3e place au classement général lors du Challenge Eco Green Energy 2023.
Notre deuxième projet, sans doute le plus ambitieux entreprit par Vinci Eco Drive sur beaucoup de plans, est une Formula Student. On peut assimiler ce prototype à une monoplace de Formule 1 à l’échelle étudiante, c’est-à-dire avec les moyens financiers et humains ainsi qu’avec les savoir-faire des étudiants. Notre monoplace sera entièrement électrique, avec un moteur par roue et d’une puissance d’environ 120 ch pour 250 kg. Notre objectif est de sortir notre première version durant l’été 2024 et de participer à nos 1ères compétitions en 2025, et dans le futur de pouvoir concourir lors de la Formula Student Germany, qui est la plus grande compétition de Formula Student au monde, regroupant plus de 100 équipes venant des quatre coins du globe.
