Public Value proposition
ANR provides funding for project-based research in all fields of science - for both basic and applied research - to public research organisations and universities, as well as to private companies (including SMEs). Employing a method based on competitive peer reviews compliant with international standards, ANR provides the scientific community with instruments and programmes promoting creativity and openness, and stimulate new ideas and partnerships, particularly between academia and industry. Its activity also contributes to enhancing the competitiveness and the influence of French research in Europe and across the world.
Since 2010, ANR has also been the lead manager of the Investments for the Future programme in the field of higher education and research, in charge of project selection, funding and monitoring.

Établissement public placé sous la tutelle du ministère de l’Enseignement
supérieur et de la Recherche, l’Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR)
est l’agence de financement de la recherche sur projets en France.
Elle a pour mission de soutenir et de promouvoir le développement de
recherches fondamentales et finalisées dans toutes les disciplines, tant
sur le plan national, européen qu’international. Elle finance également
l’innovation technique et le transfert de technologies, les partenariats
entre équipes de recherche des secteurs public et privé, et renforce le
dialogue entre science et société.
L’ANR est aussi le principal opérateur de France 2030 dans le domaine
de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche pour lesquels elle assure
la sélection, le financement et le suivi des projets couvrant notamment
les actions d’initiatives d’excellence, les infrastructures de recherche et
le soutien aux progrès et à la valorisation de la recherche.
L’ANR est certifiée ISO 9001 pour l’ensemble de ses processus liés à la
« sélection des projets » et a obtenu le label « égalité professionnelle »
