[Automatic translation follows] Research program dedicated to the development of new personalized treatments against cancer.
Since 2011, 8 Integrated Cancer Research Sites (SIRIC), including CARPEM (CAncer Research for PERsonalized Medicine), have been certified. They must offer cancer research new operational conditions with the aim of optimizing and accelerating the production of knowledge and promoting its dissemination and application in the treatment of cancers.
In 2017, INCa launched a new (SIRIC) labeling campaign.
After the success of the first program, CARPEM was certified for the second time, which demonstrates the excellence of the collaborative work of our teams.
CARPEM, directed by Professor Pierre Laurent-Puig, aims to provide elements of understanding on the mechanisms of carcinogenesis, and the relationship between the tumor and its microenvironment in order to develop prognostic and theranostic biomarkers as well as new therapies and therefore ultimately improve the care of cancer patients.
This project brings together the strengths of 21 research teams and 3 hospital sites (European Georges Pompidou Hospital, Cochin/Hôtel-Dieu hospital and the Necker hematology department).
The new CARPEM project is developed around 3 research programs:
- Metabolism, Genetics, Immunity and Environment
- Tumor heterogeneity: a challenge for patient care
- Dynamic consent and health democracy
The first 2 programs will make it possible to define preventive behaviors based on demonstrated molecular knowledge, new therapeutic targets and new prognostic or predictive markers in order to delay the appearance of resistance.
The third program addresses the triple technical, clinical and ethical challenge of massive data production, their integration and sharing by encouraging patients and their loved ones to become key players in cancer research.

Depuis 2011, 8 Sites de Recherche Intégrée sur le Cancer (SIRIC), dont le CARPEM (CAncer Research for PErsonalized Medicine), ont été labellisés. Ils doivent offrir à la recherche en Cancérologie de nouvelles conditions opérationnelles dans le but d’optimiser et d’accélérer la production de connaissances et de favoriser leur diffusion et leur application dans la prise en charge des cancers.
En 2017, l'INCa a lancé une nouvelle campagne de labellisation de (SIRIC).
Après le succès du premier programme, le CARPEM a été labellisé pour la deuxième fois, ce qui démontre l'excellence du travail collaboratif de nos équipes.
Le CARPEM, dirigé par le Pr. Pierre Laurent-Puig, a pour objectif d’apporter des éléments de compréhensions sur les mécanismes de cancérogenèse, et la relation entre la tumeur et son microenvironnement afin de développer des biomarqueurs pronostiques et théranostiques aussi bien que des thérapeutiques nouvelles et donc in fine d’améliorer la prise en charge des malades atteints de cancer.
Ce projet réunit les forces de 21 équipes de recherche et de 3 sites hospitaliers (Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou, hôpital Cochin/Hôtel-Dieu et le département d’hématologie de Necker).
Le nouveau projet CARPEM est développé autour de 3 programmes de recherche :
- Métabolisme, Génétique, Immunité et Environnement
- Hétérogénéité tumorale : un défi pour la prise en charge du patient
- Consentement dynamique et démocratie sanitaire
Les 2 premiers programmes permettront de définir des comportements préventifs basés sur des connaissances moléculaires démontrées, de nouvelles cibles thérapeutiques et de nouveaux marqueurs pronostiques ou prédictifs afin de retarder l’apparition d’une résistance.
Le troisième programme relève le triple défi technique, clinique et éthique que constituent la production massive de données, leur intégration et leur partage en encourageant les patients et leurs proches à devenir des acteurs clés de la recherche contre le cancer.
