UN Global Compact Network Germany – Sustainable and responsible corporate management in Germany and worldwide.
The UN Global Compact Network Germany (UN GCD) is the network of German participants in the UN Global Compact, the United Nations initiative to promote sustainable and responsible corporate governance. The UN Global Compact is primarily aimed at companies and relevant actors from civil society, politics and science. Together they form a multi-stakeholder network in Germany with over 400 participants – the UN GCD.
Internationally and in Germany, the UN Global Compact is based on the principle of voluntary commitment. Companies explicitly undertake to respect and promote universal basic rules, which are often anchored in national law, even where they are not or not fully implemented. On this basis, companies should contribute to sustainable development worldwide with the support of civil society organizations, public institutions and other important stakeholders.
The main topics of the network work are based on the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact:
- Human rights
- Labor standards
- Environmental Protection
- Prevention of corruption
There are also management-related cross-sectional issues:
- Change management
- Supply chain management
- Reporting and data management
The network works as an implementation-oriented learning and dialogue platform, provides information and tools, promotes the dissemination of good examples and offers a framework for trusting exchange between participants.
