The World Petroleum Council (WPC) is a non-advocacy, non-political organisation accredited as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) from the United Nations (UN). The WPC is dedicated to the promotion of sustainable use and management of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all. Established in 1933, the WPC has 69 member countries.
Turkey has become a member of the council since 1991. After the candidacy for the 17th and 20th World Petroleum Congresses, Turkey has hosted the 22nd WPC on 9-13 July, 2017, widely recognized as the `Olympics` of the oil and gas industry.
