Stichting Thuisgekookt is a social meal service at home, for and by neighbors. Through personal matchmaking and consistent guidance, the Thuisgekookt Foundation brings vulnerable meal seekers into contact with volunteer home cooks who prepare a tailor-made meal.
Stichting Thuisgekookt sees various (health) challenges arising in Dutch society and increasing in severity. Loneliness, health inequalities, an aging population and increasing pressure on the healthcare network create the need to look out for each other more. 450,000 people in the Netherlands do not have access to healthy meals and/or meaningful social contact.
By facilitating meetings between neighbors and making healthy, affordable and fresh food accessible to everyone, the Thuisgekookt Foundation tries to create a co-operative society, in which people feel connected to and can lean on their immediate environment. Stichting Thuisgekookt contributes to the basic needs of (healthy) food and (meaningful) social contact when their own network is insufficient.
We offer a fast and effective instrument to reduce health inequalities of various vulnerable groups. A hot meal prepared and distributed by a volunteer home cook stimulates contact at neighborhood level and promotes community spirit. This leads to an effective intervention against loneliness and contributes to savings on the costs of professionals and reduced pressure on the (informal) care network.

Stichting Thuisgekookt is een sociale maaltijdservice aan huis, voor en door buurtgenoten. Middels persoonlijke matchmaking en consequente begeleiding brengt Stichting Thuisgekookt maaltijdzoekers met een kwetsbaarheid in contact met vrijwillige thuiskoks die een maaltijd op maat maken.
Stichting Thuisgekookt ziet verschillende (gezondheids)uitdagingen in de Nederlandse samenleving ontstaan en in ernst toenemen. Eenzaamheid, gezondheidsachterstanden, vergrijzing en een toenemende druk op het zorgnetwerk zorgen voor de noodzaak om meer naar elkaar om te kijken. 450.000 mensen in Nederland hebben geen toegang tot gezonde maaltijden en/of betekenisvol sociaal contact.
Door ontmoetingen tussen buurtgenoten te faciliteren en gezond, betaalbaar en vers eten voor iedereen toegankelijk te maken probeert Stichting Thuisgekookt een samenredzame samenleving te creeëren, waarin mensen zich verbonden voelen met en kunnen leunen op hun directe omgeving. Stichting Thuisgekookt draagt bij aan de basisbehoeften (gezonde) voeding en (betekenisvol) sociaal contact wanneer het eigen netwerk niet toereikend is.
We bieden een snel en effectief instrument om gezondheidsachterstanden van verschillende kwetsbare groepen te verkleinen. Een warme maaltijd die gemaakt en verspreid wordt door een vrijwillige thuiskok stimuleert contact op buurtniveau en bevordert de gemeenschapszin. Dit leidt tot een effectieve interventie tegen eenzaamheid en draagt bij aan een besparing op de kosten van professionals en verminderde druk op het (mantel)zorgnetwerk.
