Logeant plus de 75 000 foyers réunionnais sur toute l’île, l’histoire de la SIDR se confond intimement avec celle des familles réunionnaises. On connaît tous quelqu'un qui a habité, habite ou habitera à la SIDR...
Premier et longtemps seul acteur du logement social à La Réunion, la SIDR naît en 1949 après la guerre, plusieurs cyclones ravageurs et la création du Département de La Réunion. Face à l’impérieuse nécessité de loger, propriétaires terriens de domaines sucriers, représentants du Département et de l’Etat se mobilisent et créent la SIDR, première société immobilière à vocation sociale des DOM.
75 ans plus tard, désormais filiale de CDC Habitat, le premier bailleur social d’Outre-Mer travaille à améliorer le bien-être de ses locataires, en réalisant des investissements considérables pour rénover les résidences, proposer davantage de logements neufs, apporter une attention particulière aux personnes âgées et favoriser l’accession à la propriété de ses locataires. Résolument tournée vers l'avenir, la SIDR redonne la priorité à la relation client, aux services et à la proximité, pour rester attentive aux besoins de son temps et des générations à venir.
