La Fédération nationale des Conseils d'architecture, d'urbanisme et de l'environnement (FNCAUE) a pour notamment pour objet de :
- représenter, au plan national, les CAUE et leurs intérêts auprès des pouvoirs publics, des collectivités territoriales, des milieux professionnels et des différents organismes ayant à connaître des questions d’architecture, d’urbanisme et d’environnement ;
- de diffuser et de faire connaître les rôles et les buts des CAUE et d’assurer leur promotion par l’information et la communication aux plans national et international, notamment en entretenant des relations avec les organismes poursuivant les mêmes buts ;
- d’assurer la circulation régulière de l’information entre les différents CAUE, de faciliter la mise en commun de leurs expériences et la formation des personnels ;
- de susciter des actions communes et soutenir la recherche au niveau départemental, régional ou national, de favoriser la création et le fonctionnement des Unions régionales de représenter les CAUE ;
- d’effectuer des études et rapports en relation avec ses activités ou missions.
