The Ebola virus epidemic has highlighted the urgent need to develop integrated research and medical care structures in the field of infectious diseases. As part of the strengthening of research and training infrastructures, it was decided in collaboration with the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Department of the Donak National Hospital (SMIT), the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) under the Ministry of Health, and the Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry (UGANC), under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to build a Research and Training Center in Infectious Diseases in partnership with the Research Institute for Development (IRD) and the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM). The center is located on the Hadja Mafory Bangoura Campus of the UGANC. With a total surface area of approximately 1000m2, on two levels, the ground floor includes consultation rooms and psychosocial interview rooms, sampling room, laboratory, laboratory technicians' office, pharmacy, server room, archive room, storage of materials and consumables. The first floor includes the training room, researchers' offices and those of the administration.

L’épidémie par le virus Ebola a mis en évidence l’impérieuse nécessité de développer des structures intégrées de recherche et de prise en charge médicale dans le domaine des maladies infectieuses. Dans le cadre du renforcement des infrastructures de recherche et formation, il a été décidé en collaboration avec le Service de Maladies Infectieuses et Tropicales de l’Hôpital Nationale Donak (SMIT), de l’Institut National de Santé Publique (INSP) au titre du Ministère de la Santé, et de l’université Gamal Abdel Nasser de Conakry (UGANC), au titre du Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche Scientifique, la construction d’un Centre de Recherche et de Formation en Infectiologie en partenariat avec l’Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) et l’Institut Nationale de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM). Le centre est situé sur le Campus Hadja Mafory Bangoura de l’UGANC. D’une surface totale d’environ 1000m2 environ, sur deux niveaux, le rez-de-chaussée comprend des salles de consultation et pour les entretiens psychosociaux, salle de prélèvements, laboratoire, bureau des techniciens de laboratoire, pharmacie, salle des serveurs, salle des archives, stockage me matériels et consommables. Le premier étage regroupe la salle de formation, les bureaux des chercheurs et ceux de l’administration.
Le centre a pour principaux objectifs :
la conception et la mise en œuvre des projets de recherche clinique ou interventionnelle dans le domaine des maladies infectieuses, particulièrement celles qui sont endémiques en Afrique subsaharienne ;
