Le CARI est une association de solidarité internationale qui intervient depuis 1998 auprès des populations rurales, majoritairement du pourtour saharien. L'association a une vocation d'aide au développement en appuyant la petite agriculture comme rempart aux crises alimentaires et comme levier de développement. Ses actions sont principalement orientées vers la lutte contre la désertification et la dégradation des terres en zones arides.
L'association est initiatrice du Sommet international Désertif'actions.
