Upscaling satellite solutions for adaptation to climate change
The Space for Climate Observatory is an international initiative launched in 2019 to bring together the scientific community, public authorities and the business world around solutions for mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
Its missions are:
🤝 Encourage the development of projects through annual calls for projects.
🌍 Coordinating international efforts to support the emergence of operational tools for climate monitoring, mitigation and adaptation addressed to decision-makers and the wide public.
🧠 Bring together the scientific community, public authorities and the business world around solutions for mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
💰 To label concrete projects according to accurate criteria with the aim of maximizing the chances to fund projects and optimizing their success in order to propose usable tools to political decision-makers in all countries.
SCO's key figures since 2019 are steadily increasing:
↗ 47 signatories from 25 countries
↗ 71 projects approved until 2023

Space Climate Observatory
As an informal group of space agencies and international organizations, the Space Climate Observatory (SCO) International Initiative addresses the need to step up international coordination for accurate assessment and monitoring of the consequences of climate change from observations and numerical models.
