    Living systems has to be considered as physical systems so that unravelling the physical mechanisms involved in complex biological processes and diseases is one of the main challenges of biology. In BioMeca we believe that the starting point is to give a quantitative physical description of biological samples to have a better understanding of such processes.

    BioMeca® is a company based in Lyon expert in biomechanics and mechanobiology and specialized in high-resolution structural and mechanical characterization of biological samples at different scales, from large structures, such as tissues and cells, down to individual molecules of DNA and proteins with sub-molecular resolution. Our methodologies are suitable for in vitro, in situ and in vivo studies.

    BioMeca® is a French biotech company specialized in nano-structural details and physical properties of biological samples, from large structures, such as hair and skin cells, down to individual molecules of DNA and proteins with sub-molecular resolution. BioMeca® believes it is necessary to understand structural and mechanical properties of biological samples to have a better understanding of the behavior of complex biological processes and pathologies.

    We chose the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) as a tool because it enables us to study biological samples directly in their natural environment. However, it is always tricky to be able to obtain images or mechanical characteristics of living and growing biological tissues in their physiological environments.
    In order to overcome these technical limitations, BioMeca® develops powerful methodologies suitable for in vitro, in situ and in vivo studies.
