The Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation is a private, non-profit entity, established on March 30, 1984 and declared of public utility on October 24, 1984. La Fundación Catalana Síndrome de Down es una entidad privada, sin ánimo de lucro, constituida el 30 de marzo de 1984 y declarada de utilidad pública el 24 de octubre de 1984. Está inscrita en el registro de fundaciones de la Generalitat de Catalunya con el número 61 y tiene como misión mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas con síndrome de down u otras discapacidades intelectuales.
El Servicio de Atención Terapéutica fue constituido el año 2005 para atender a personas con discapacidad intelectual, de todas las edades y a los miembros de sus familias. Su objetivo es atender consultas puntuales, realizar valoraciones diagnósticas, tratamientos psicoterapéuticos, seguimientos, peritaciones y asesoramientos en las áreas de salud mental.
El Centro Médico Down se creó en el año 1987 y está especializado en medicina preventiva para personas con síndrome de down. Su objetivo es prevenir, atender y/o paliar todos aquellos aspectos sanitarios que se presentan con mayor frecuencia en las personas con síndrome de Down. Consta de 19 especialidades médicas, cuenta con más de 2100 historias clínicas informatizadas y está reconocido internacionalmente. Sus tres directrices básicas de actuación son: asistencial, investigación biomédica y difusión y divulgación médica a familias y profesionales.
