The Federal Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME), founded in 1954, is a leading trade association and network partner for purchasing, supply chain and logistics managers in Germany and Europe. Der 1954 gegründete Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik e.V. (BME) ist ein führender Fachverband und Netzwerkpartner für Einkaufs-, Supply-Chain- und Logistikverantwortliche in Deutschland und Europa. Er zählt in 38 Verbandsregionen 9.750 Mitglieder (Stand: Mai 2022) – vom Einzelunternehmen über den Mittelstand bis zum Konzern – aus allen Branchen und Sektoren. Das Volumen der von den Verbandsmitgliedern beschafften Waren und Dienstleistungen beträgt jährlich rund 1,25 Billionen Euro. Das entspricht knapp einem Drittel des deutschen Bruttoinlandsprodukts.
Die Verbandsziele des BME sind der Know-how-Transfer durch Erfahrungsaustausch, die Aus- und Weiterbildung von qualifizierten Fach- und Führungskräften sowie die Förderung neuer Erkenntnisse, Verfahren und Techniken an der Schnittstelle von Wissenschaft und Praxis.
Als Impulsgeber und Agenda-Setter hilft der BME seinen Mitgliedsunternehmen bei der Erschließung neuer Beschaffungsmärkte und gestaltet wirtschaftliche Prozesse und politische Entwicklungen auf nationaler und europäischer Ebene aktiv mit. Mehr als 20 Fachgruppen und Expertenkreise erarbeiten zukunftsorientierte und praxiserprobte Konzepte, die der BME seinen Mitgliedern und der Fachöffentlichkeit zur Verfügung stellt, um so die Profession des Einkaufs, der Logistik und des Supply Chain Managements auch in der Öffentlichkeit voranzubringen.
