Description
  • Value proposition

As a part of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering’s main objective is meeting today’s industrial challenges and creating value through education, innovation and research.

We employ more than 200 people from around the world, and our mission is to develop and utilize knowledge, methods, technologies and sustainable solutions within:

    • Chemical and biochemical process engineering and production
    • Design of chemical and biochemical products and processes
    • Energy and environment

We are home to five research centres and two cross departmental units working within chemical and biochemical research. From these, we strive to educate some of the best (bio)chemical engineers and do vital research in areas such as separation processes, reaction engineering, dynamics and process regulations, process and facility planning, unit operations, heat transmission, fluid mechanics and applied thermodynamics.

We work closely with industry to obtain research results that are applicable to industry and society. Within our research centres we carry out a wide range of specialized chemical and biochemical engineering research through field experiments, experiments in lab scale, pilot facilities and in industrial scale.

Our main activities are in the areas of product design, process design and production in the chemical, biotechnological, pharmaceutical, food – and energy technological industries.
