PROESA - Centro de Estudios en Protección Social y Economía de la Salud - hace investigación de alta calidad y genera evidencia relevante para la orientación de las políticas públicas en protección social y economía de la salud, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.
PROESA fue fundada como una entidad independiente y sin ánimo de lucro en 2010 conjuntamente por la Universidad Icesi y la Fundación Clínica Valle del Lili (FCVL), ambas establecidas en Cali Colombia. En 2016 dejó de existir como entidad independiente y paso a ser un Centro de Investigación de la Unversidad Icesi adscrito a la Rectoria. Su representante legal es el Rector de la Universidad.
La FCVL, fundada en 1982, es un hospital sin ánimo de lucro, líder en diversas áreas clínicas y con gran trayectoria en investigación, clasificada como la cuarta mejor en Latinoamérica según la Revista América Economía. La FCVL tiene cerca de 300 especialistas.
La Universidad Icesi, creada en 1979, es una universidad privada con acreditación institucional de alta calidad otorgada por el gobierno de Colombia. La Universidad Icesi cuenta con 23 departamentos académicos a los cuales se encuentra vinculado un cuerpo profesoral de la más alta calidad académica, conformado por 194 profesores, de los cuales 186 son tiempo completo y de ellos el 70% tienen formación doctoral o están en proceso de alcanzar esta categoría.
