How to Including Freelance or Side Projects on your resume 🎨
(13 / 31 days of resume tips!)

✨ Freelance gigs and side projects aren’t “extras”—they’re legitimate experience that can set you apart!

Here’s how to showcase them:
✅ Create a section: Label it “Freelance Experience” or “Relevant Projects.”
✅ Focus on results: Highlight the impact of your work just like you would with a traditional job (e.g., “Designed a website that increased client sales by 15%.”).
✅ Tailor it: Include only projects that align with the job you’re targeting.

Teal’s resume builder makes it easy to integrate freelance work seamlessly into your professional story. (link in comments to check it out)

See you tomorrow for Day 14 👋

You've probably heard this stat...

"Men apply for a job when they meet 60% of the qualifications, but women apply only if they meet 100% of them."

This message is for all the ladies out there who think they aren't qualified enough for that job.

YOU ARE.

Show the 10% of you that’s 100% relevant to them.

In today’s job market, standing out isn’t about showing everything you can do—it’s about showing what you can do for them.

You might have a broad range of experiences, and that’s awesome. But when a hiring manager looks at your resume, they’re not looking for everything you’ve ever done. They’re looking for the things that solve their problems.

So here’s the key: focus on the 10% of you that’s 100% relevant to them.

When you try to show everything, it can dilute your message. Instead of being seen as world-class at a few things, you risk coming across as okay at a lot of things. And in a competitive job market, “okay” doesn’t cut it.

- What problems are they trying to solve?
- What skills or experiences make you the perfect fit for this role?

Highlight those. Tailor your resume to align with their needs and focus on the value you bring to the table.

Not sure how to narrow it down? The Teal Resume Builder makes it easy to craft targeted resumes that highlight the best of you for every job. 🎯

Because showing the right 10% can make you 100% unforgettable. 🚀

There’s lots of pressure to include metrics on your Resume...
And yes, numbers are great—they’re clear and easy for recruiters to digest.
But here’s the thing:

Metrics aren’t the only way to demonstrate your impact.

What hiring managers care about most is the result of your actions. Whether or not you have the numbers to prove it, you need to answer the most important question: “So what?”

Did your work improve efficiency?
Did it make the team more engaged or productive?
Did it solve a problem or create a new opportunity?
For example: Instead of saying, “Developed a process improvement plan,” try this: “Initiated a process improvement plan that led to higher team engagement and improved efficiency.”

Even without specific metrics, you’ve made it clear that your work had a meaningful impact.

So as you’re building your resume, focus on the outcomes—not just the actions. Because at the end of the day, results are what matter.

Need help crafting a resume that stands out? Check out the Teal Resume Builder. It makes it easy to highlight your accomplishments and tell a story that gets you hired. 🚀

How do you handle employment gaps on your resume? 🤔
(Day 12 of 31)

👉 Gaps happen and they’re not career-enders!

Here’s ways to address them honestly and professionally:
✅ Be transparent: Use your cover letter or resume summary to briefly explain the gap (e.g., caregiving, education, or skill-building).
✅ Highlight productive activities: Mention freelance work, volunteering, certifications, or skill development during that time.
✅ Focus on your achievements: Keep the emphasis on the value you bring, not the time away.

When addressing them, which approach do you find most effective?
