The Archaeological Museum of the Battle of Gergovia. History spread wide.
Offering so much more than a tour, the Archaeological Museum of the Battle of Gergovia offers a living and interactive journey into the heart of the Gallic Wars and the legendary Battle of Gergovia fought between Julius Caesar and Vercingetorix. It also offers an opportunity to explore the natural and geological history of the Gergovie Plateau and the majestic surrounding landscapes, particularly the Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne Fault listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Gergovia Museum is open to all and offers a museum exhibit that uses innovative and quality features that match a range of both scientific and recreational expectations. The space brings together graphics, models, archaeological artefacts and multimedia, and culminates in an audio-visual room that immerses the visitor in the atmosphere of the Battle. In addition to the 600 m2 of fixed exhibition space, a temporary exhibition hall offers an opportunity to showcase the latest archaeological finds made on the plateau, and to present cultural and art exhibitions.
Finally, tours of the inside of the museum are complemented by themed outdoor tours as well as educational workshops for school children.

Le Musée de Gergovie accueille ses visiteurs sur le lieu de l’unique victoire de Vercingétorix contre Jules César durant la Guerre des Gaules. Plus qu’une visite, le musée propose un parcours vivant et interactif.
L’espace allie graphisme, maquettes, objets archéologiques et multimédias, avec comme point d’orgue une salle audiovisuelle immergeant le visiteur dans la Bataille durant laquelle les Gaulois l’emportèrent sur les Romains. Le parcours permet également de découvrir l’histoire des Gaulois en Auvergne ainsi que les origines géologiques du Plateau de Gergovie et des paysages grandioses qui l’entourent, notamment la Chaîne des Puys et la Faille de Limagne classées au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO.
