In Chicago, decades of systemic disinvestment have left many communities without access to quality education, career pathways, or economic opportunity. A 2016 report by the Great Cities Institute at UIC found that five neighborhoods accounted for a third of the city’s homicides—areas where youth unemployment reached as high as 92%. The message is clear: lack of opportunity is a key driver of violence.

TA98 is a Chicago-based 501(c)(3) social enterprise nonprofit organization focused on changing that narrative by investing in the next generation of leaders. We believe youth employment is one of the most powerful tools to reduce violence, drive equity, and create social and economic mobility, and healthy communities.

Our mission is to prepare and position young adults for meaningful career success by offering:
