StartupValley (www.startupvalley.com) is an equity-based crowdfunding portal that allows tech startups and emerging growth companies to raise capital for their company through the power of the crowd. Investors can provide early-stage investments in these tech-based businesses in exchange for an equity share in their company.

StartupValley has a heavy focus on tech startups and businesses in the technology arena. This includes mobile apps, Facebook apps, social apps, websites, social networking, social media, healthcare and medical technology, high tech sciences, and energy and solar technology.

Currently, crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter.com are reward based portals (not equity based). Reward based allows people to raise money for an idea and the person raising the funds can give away gifts or rewards (like products, t-shirts, etc...) The ability to give away equity (stock) in ones company has not been possible for over 80 years, until now!

It's all based on the JOBS Act, which was signed by President Barack Obama on April 5, 2012 to allow companies to raise capital for their business and give away equity ownership in return. This is a revolutionary change in how businesses will raise money for their company in the future (through "the crowd") and StartupValley is going to be available to support technology based startups and companies who want to raise money and give away equity in their business.
