Recent studies show that the average Londoner spends 65% of their income on rent. That's almost double the UK average. Then there's the matter of paying bills, buying a monthly travel card and purchasing the essentials, like food and drink. For many, there is little left over for actually enjoying what London has to offer.

That’s where the Cheapskate London newsletter comes in.

Founded in May 2019 by journalist and writer Kate Samuelson, Cheapskate is the only publication to exclusively list London’s best free events, including live music, film screenings, plays, exercise classes, talks and workshops. The weekly newsletter also offers free-to-enter competitions, from tickets to plays at the Donmar Warehouse, to a year’s membership of the Vagina Museum in Camden.

That London is staggeringly expensive is no secret. How to enjoy it should be no secret either. Cheapskate helps everyone get the best out of this incredible city – no matter their income.
