The Paris Autumn Festival was created in 1972 by Michel Guy, Georges Pompidou's Minister of Culture. The Festival d'Automne rapidly became a crossroads for avant-garde and forward-looking artistic creation. The Festival draws large audiences and stimulates wide public interest.

Pluridisciplinaire, international et nomade, le Festival d’Automne à Paris invite depuis 1972 des artistes français et internationaux et produit leurs œuvres.
Il investit chaque année plus de 60 lieux à Paris et en région Ile-de-France, présente plus de 80 spectacles, concerts, expositions et accueille près de 250 000 personnes.
Le Festival d’Automne à Paris est dirigé par Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota depuis 2011.
