[Automatic translation follows] Place of art and performances in Gentilly
Le Génération opened its 600m2 space in the heart of the historic Gentilly district in 2006 to devote itself to all contemporary expressions, particularly visual arts and performance. The Generator is a member of the Actes IF network.
Anne Dreyfus, dancer and choreographer, and Bernard Bousquet, visual artist, took over this old cinema, “Le Gaîté-Palace”, and with the active complicity of the City of Gentilly, launched the start of an adventure in record time ambitious and daring artistic work to which the public will respond with enthusiasm.
Seventeen years later, the results are eloquent: 16 Nuits Blanches, 13 editions of the FRASQ festival, annual performance meeting, more than 200 residencies, more than 900 invited artists and no less than 40 partnerships with cultural festivals (music , dance, digital arts...).
An independent, autonomous place, subordinate only to itself, created and managed by artists, Le Génacteur welcomes in its open and minimalist space multiple singular and often transdisciplinary proposals, ignoring borders and mixing plastic arts and live performance, writing of the gesture and poetry of the word.
