Committed to Sustainable Construction since 2003.

The Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction was created in 2003 to raise awareness of the important role that architecture, engineering, urban planning and the building industry have in achieving a more sustainable future.

The Foundation is an information hub, connecting professions, geographies, and generations. Disseminating knowledge and inspiring change is a key activity among the programs of the Foundation.

Flagship of the Foundation is the Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction. It is the world’s most significant competition for sustainable design. It rewards projects that go beyond balancing environmental performance, social responsibility, and economic growth, thereby exemplifying architectural excellence and a high degree of transferability. Each competition cycle spans three years, from announcement to completion and a total of USD 2 million in prize money is awarded.

Further programs of the Foundation include:
    • Next Generation Awards Lab for Sustainable Construction
    • Research in Practice Grants
    • Holcim Forum for Sustainable Construction
    • Roundtable for Sustainable Construction

The Holcim Foundation is an initiative of Holcim Ltd, and expresses the commitment of its sponsor to sustainable development. The Holcim Foundation remains independent from the commercial interests of its sponsor.
