The UK government has today unveiled its AI Opportunities Action Plan, signalling a new vision for the nation’s technological future under Keir Starmer’s leadership 🇬🇧 🤖

The strategy adopts all 50 recommendations outlined by Matt Clifford CBE, focusing on infrastructure expansion, regulatory innovation, and economic growth. With €16.6 billion in private sector commitments and the promise of 13,250 new jobs, this plan aims to position the UK as a frontrunner in the global AI race.

Chris Lehane, Chief Global Affairs Officer at OpenAI, observed: “The government’s AI action plan - led by the Prime Minister and Secretary Peter Kyle - recognises where AI development is headed and sets the UK on the right path to benefit from its growth. The UK has an enormous national resource in the talent of its people, institutions and businesses which together, can leverage AI to advance the country’s national interest.”

Eindhoven-based startup PHOTON IP, a manufacturer of advanced low-power optical chips, has raised €4.75 million in a seed funding round in order to drive photonic chip innovation 🇳🇱 💡

Led by Innovation Industries through its Early Stars Fund, the round also saw participation from Faber, Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM), and PhotonDelta.

“We’re not just advancing integrated photonics — we’re simplifying the manufacturing process for photonic circuits as well,” said PHOTON IP Co-founder and CEO Rui Santos. “With our advanced optical engines, we’re setting a new performance benchmark and eliminating the barriers to efficiently combine III-V materials with silicon. This funding expands our ability to grow our team to bring our first products to market.”

London-based startup Oh has announced the successful completion of its €4.4 million seed funding round to develop its platform of “digital twins” of influencers and online creators 🇬🇧 💻

The round included investments from Tangent, Big Brain Holdings, Kosmos Ventures , Tagus Capital and Bodhi Ventures, alongside Yan Liberman from Delphi Ventures.

Oh’s co-founder and CEO, Nic Y., said: “By combining AI’s ability to generate and personalise content with the power to create communities with agentic capabilities, built on the decentralization and censorship resistance of Web3, traditional systems simply can’t compete. It’s a paradigm shift for creators, consumers and investors alike.”
