At ASICS, we believe in the positive benefits of movement for both mind and body. Driven by research and applying human-centric design, we make and sell footwear, apparel and equipment for the lifetime athlete in all of us.
Our founder Kihachiro Onitsuka began making athletic shoes in 1949 with the goal of developing society through sports. He later named the company ASICS, which stands for Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, or A Sound Mind In A Sound Body. This speaks to our desire for people everywhere to live healthy lives both mentally and physically.
Today, ASICS is a global company with a head office in Kobe, Japan and operations in more than 30 countries. As well as products for running, tennis and other core performance sports, we also offer the SportStyle range, the Onitsuka Tiger brand, fitness-tracking app Runkeeper, and our membership program OneASICS.

From the stadium to the stars in LA 🏟️⭐
ASICS athlete Tejinesh Gebisa Tulu of Ethiopia is pictured winning the 40th Los Angeles Marathon this Sunday in a time of 2:30:14. ASICS athlete Matt Richtman became the first American to win the men's race in 31 years, finishing with a time of 2:07:56. A stunning double for our elite athletes!
The two-day Los Angeles Marathon expo also attracted over 70,000 visitors. Many were seen shopping our latest footwear and apparel, finding their name on the Wall of Runners, or immersing themselves in our Wondermind intention and community building space. Incredible work all round by #TeamASICS and our run specialty partner Fleet Feet.
In other big news, we’re elevating our sponsorship. From 2026, the event will be known as the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon 🥏🌴

In partnership with recycling not-for-profit, TreadLightly, we’re pleased to share this Global Recycling Day that in 2024, ASICS stores collected and recycled over 24,000 pairs of shoes, saving 16,162kg from landfill.
Working collaboratively with TreadLightly, we can continue to strive towards our net-zero emissions target by 2050.
