Das größte Projekt ist Wikipedia – die freie Online-Enzyklopädie, die weltweit zu den beliebtesten Websites gehört. Wikipedia setzt sich für den kostenlosen Zugang zu freiem Wissen ein und engagiert sich damit für ein grundlegendes Recht des Menschen auf Bildung. Wikimedia Deutschland unterstützt durch intensive Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit das rasante Wachstum der Wikimedia-Projekte. Image und Bekanntheit der Wikimedia-Projekte in der Öffentlichkeit weiter zu fördern ist eines unserer Kernziele. Wir organisieren Schreibwettbewerbe, veranstalten Workshops, realisieren Kooperationen, organisieren Messeauftritte und planen Veranstaltungen, Vorträge und Symposien. Darüberhinaus setzen wir uns für umfangreiche technische und administrative Aufgaben ein.
