La création du Pôle d'excellence cyber sous l'égide du ministère des Armées et de la Région Bretagne, porte l'ambition d'accélérer la construction d'une filière en cybersécurité-cyberdéfense souveraine en valorisant les acquis de l'écosystème local breton et en décloisonnant et fédérant les univers structurés (militaire/civile, formation-recherches/donneurs d'ordres, grands groupes/PME-ETI...).
Le Pôle d'excellence cyber stimule l’offre de formation cyber (qu’elle soit initiale, continue, supérieure) afin que chaque acteur dispose des compétences nécessaires pour répondre aux besoins de développement de la filière.
Il promeut la recherche académique en adéquation avec les besoins des ministères et des industriels.
Il soutient et engage le développement industriel afin de définir et mettre en œuvre des solutions innovantes de protection à destination des ETI et PME.
L'ensemble des membres et partenaires du Pôle (académiques, industriels, militaires...) se réunissent périodiquement à l'occasion de groupes de travail thématiques permettant un haut degré de concertation dans le développement de projets communs.
Cela signifie que chacun de nos membres sont à la fois des acteurs véritablement engagés dans les divers travaux d'intérêt commun et en s’appuyant sur leurs compétences et leurs champs d’intervention respectifs mais aussi, des ambassadeurs du label "Pôle d'excellence cyber" en mesure de faire rayonner une filière souveraine en cybersécurité.
Outre le ministère des Armées et la Région Bretagne, le Pôle d’excellence cyber compte aujourd’hui une trentaine de membres actifs : douze grands groupes (Airbus Cyber Security, Atos-Bull, Bertin IT, Capgemini, DCI, EDF, La Poste, Naval Group, Nokia, Orange, Sopra Steria, Thales), des PME et plus d’une quinzaine de laboratoires, d’universités et d’écoles d’ingénieurs.
