    Habitat Association (Habitat) is a civil society organization working in the field of sustainable development. Aiming for young people to play an active role in sustainable development, Habitat was founded in 1997 by activists who came together at the Copenhagen Social Development Summit in 1995 and for the United Nations Habitat II Summit.

    Habitat, whose founding vision is to establish a bridge of communication between the youth of the world and the youth of Turkey, has developed many projects and programs in line with this vision to develop the capacities of young people and establish international partnerships.

    Believing in the effectiveness of societies that act with an organized and voluntary consciousness, Habitat pioneered the establishment of the City Council, Youth, Women, Disabled and Children's Assemblies and the National Youth Parliament. In addition, it supported the formation of many mechanisms such as TOBB Youth and Women Entrepreneurs Boards.

    Since 1997, Habitat has been working with thousands of young volunteers in all 81 provinces of Turkey, regardless of religion, language, race, gender, sexual orientation, or political view, for all disadvantaged groups in society, implementing capacity-building projects in the areas of governance, information technology, financial awareness, and entrepreneurship, and contributing to public policies at local, national, and global levels.

    Habitat establishes multi-stakeholder partnerships with governments, local governments, the private sector, and civil society organizations in all of its work. Habitat is a strategic partner of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

    Habitat Derneği (Habitat) sürdürülebilir kalkınma alanında çalışan bir sivil toplum kuruluşudur. Gençlerin sürdürülebilir kalkınmada etkin rol oynamasını hedefleyen Habitat, 1995 yılında Kopenhag Sosyal Kalkınma Zirvesi’nde ve Birleşmiş Milletler Habitat II Zirvesi için bir araya gelen aktivistler tarafından 1997’de kuruldu.

    Kuruluş vizyonu dünya gençliği ile Türkiye gençliği arasında iletişim köprüsü kurmak olan Habitat, bu vizyon doğrultusunda gençlerin kapasitelerini geliştirmek ve uluslararası ortaklıklar kurmak adına bir çok proje ve program geliştirdi.

    Örgütlü ve gönüllülük bilinci ile hareket eden toplumların etkinliğine inanan Habitat, Kent Konseyi, Gençlik, Kadın, Engelli ve Çocuk Meclisleri ile Ulusal Gençlik Parlamentosu’nun kurulmasına öncülük etti. Bununla birlikte TOBB Genç ve Kadın Girişimciler Kurulları gibi birçok mekanizmanın oluşmasına destek verdi.

    Habitat, 1997’den bu yana Türkiye’nin 81 ilinde binlerce genç gönüllüsü ile din, dil, ırk, cinsiyet, cinsel yönelim, siyasi görüş ayırımı yapmaksızın toplumdaki tüm dezavanatjlı gruplara yönelik çalışır, yönetişim, bilişim, finansal bilinç ve girişimcilik alanlarında kapasite artırıcı projeler uygular,
    yerel, ulusal ve küresel düzeyde kamu politikalarına katkı koyar.

    Habitat bütün çalışmalarında hükümetler, yerel yönetimler, özel sektör ve sivil toplum kuruluşlarıyla çok paydaşlı ortaklıklar kurar. Habitat, Birleşmiş Milletler Kalkınma Programı’nın (UNDP) stratejik ortağıdır.
