SIRIC Montpellier Cancer is one of the eight integrated cancer research sites labeled by the National Cancer Institute, and the only site labeled in the south of France. By mobilizing a community of excellence of multidisciplinary clinicians and researchers, our mission is to advance the understanding, prevention and treatment of cancer.
An excellence ecosystem
Sicric Montpellier Cancer brings together:
- 20 research teams covering biology, human and social sciences, mathematics, computer science and physical sciences,
- 25 clinical teams specializing in oncology,
These teams come from:
- 2 university hospital establishments (Montpellier and Montpellier CHU Cancer Institute)
- 4 biomedical research institutes (IRCM, IGMM, IGH, IGF)
- 3 research institutes in human and social sciences (ICM prevention center "Epidaurus", Epsylon, Idees laboratory)
- 2 research institutes in mathematics, IT, physics and systems (LIRMM, LMGC)
Three major research programs
1) Priority: Optimization of radiotherapy treatments by combining biology, radiobiology and new generation imagery piloted by AI.
2) Panacea: Improvement of prevention and support care strategies to reduce risk behavior and cancer complications.
3) Energy: Development of innovative therapeutic strategies based on a better understanding of the metabolic alterations of cancer cells.

Le SIRIC Montpellier Cancer est l’un des huit Sites de Recherche Intégrée sur le Cancer labellisés par l’Institut National du Cancer, et le seul site labellisé dans le Sud de la France. En mobilisant une communauté d'excellence de cliniciens et de chercheurs multidisciplinaires, notre mission est de faire progresser la compréhension, la prévention et le traitement du cancer.
Un écosystème d’excellence
Le SIRIC Montpellier Cancer réunit :
- 20 équipes de recherche couvrant la biologie, les sciences humaines et sociales, les mathématiques, l’informatique et les sciences physiques,
- 25 équipes cliniques spécialisées en oncologie,
Ces équipes sont issues de :
- 2 établissements hospitalo-universitaires (Institut du Cancer de Montpellier et CHU de Montpellier)

Trois grands programmes de recherche
