    Laboratory for the Bioengineering of Tissues (Mixed Research Unit: Inserm and Bordeaux University)

    The BioTis laboratory (Laboratoire de Bioingénierie Tissulaire – Laboratory for the Bioengineering of Tissues) is a “Mixed Research Unit” (#1026) that is comprised of personnel from the INSERM, the French national institute of health and medical research), and from the University of Bordeaux. The Unit is located on the 5th floor of the new Bordeaux Biologie Santé (BBS) building at the University of Bordeaux medical campus. BioTis has around 65 members including full time researchers, junior and senior professors in medicine/medical sciences, technical and support staff, post-doc fellows, graduate students and various interns. The Unit uses biofabrication approaches in order to produce new therapeutic strategies or in vitro models to better treat and understand human pathologies. Its activities range from fundamental cell-focused studies to building tissues and organs to implant in patients. The vision of the Unit is multidisciplinary and organ-agnostic as is blends chemical, biological, physiological, mechanical, immunological and clinical expertise to produce approaches that can target a variety of unmet needs. BioTis includes the BioPrint Accelerator of Research in Technology (A.R.T), which is INSERM’s center of excellence for Bioprinting.
