AREC supports the implementation of energy transition and circular economy policies in New Aquitaine, through observation and monitoring activity.
We work on:
- Energy and greenhouse gas emissions (energy production and consumption, including renewable energies, energy and non-energy greenhouse gas emissions);
- Biomass resources available, mobilized and mobilized for energy purposes in the region;
- Waste and the circular economy (prevention, production, sorting, recycling, recovery and elimination of waste in the region).
Based in Poitiers, the association worked from its creation in 1995 until the end of 2015 across the former Poitou-Charentes region.
Formerly called APCEDE (Agence Poitou-Charentes Energie Déchets Eau), an association under law 1901 created in 1995, then AREC Poitou-Charentes on October 28, 2008 and finally AREC since 2016, the agency provided technical coordination and implementation of work of the Regional Observatory of Waste and the Circular Economy (created in 1995), of the Regional Observatory of Energy and Greenhouse Gases (2007) and, since January 2009, of a mission observation of biomass.
Since 2016, AREC has carried out these observation missions across New Aquitaine and opened a branch in Bordeaux in 2019.

L’AREC accompagne la mise en place de politiques de transition énergétique et économie circulaire en Nouvelle-Aquitaine, par une activité d’observation et de suivi.
Nous intervenons sur :
- L’énergie et les émissions de gaz à effet de serre (production et consommations énergétiques, dont les énergies renouvelables, émissions énergétiques et non énergétiques de gaz à effet de serre) ;
- Les ressources de biomasse disponibles, mobilisables et mobilisées à des fins énergétiques en région ;
- Les déchets et l’économie circulaire (prévention, production, tri, recyclage, valorisation et élimination des déchets de la région).
Basée à Poitiers, l’association a œuvré depuis sa création en 1995 jusque fin 2015 à l’échelle de l’ancienne région Poitou-Charentes.
Anciennement dénommée APCEDE (Agence Poitou-Charentes Energie Déchets Eau), association de loi 1901 créée en 1995, puis AREC Poitou-Charentes le 28 octobre 2008 et enfin AREC depuis 2016, l’agence a assuré notamment l’animation technique et la réalisation des travaux de l’Observatoire Régional des Déchets et de l’Economie Circulaire (créé en 1995), de l’Observatoire Régional de l’Energie et des Gaz à Effet de Serre (2007) et, depuis janvier 2009, d’une mission d’observation de la biomasse.
Depuis 2016, l’AREC assure ces missions d’observation à l’échelle de la Nouvelle-Aquitaine et ouvre en 2019 une antenne sur Bordeaux.
