Our mission: to encourage the implementation of actions aimed at raising environmental awareness and preserving biodiversity.
The ARB Occitanie and its partners have a dual objective: to better coordinate the initiatives of public actors in favor of biodiversity and to strengthen concrete actions to protect and promote biodiversity in Occitanie. Our main missions are the promotion of knowledge on the biodiversity of the regional territory, citizen mobilization, networking of biodiversity stakeholders across Occitania and support for biodiversity project leaders.
In 2019, the Occitanie Region established a Regional Biodiversity Agency under the status of Public Establishment for Environmental Cooperation (EPCE). The ARB Occitanie was born from an ambitious initiative by the Occitanie Region to initiate reflection on the issues of biodiversity, in close collaboration with the French Biodiversity Agency, DREAL Occitanie, the Water Agency Adour-Garonne and the Rhone Méditerranée-Corsica Water Agency. L’ARB Occitanie et ses partenaires portent un double objectif : mieux coordonner les initiatives des acteurs publics en faveur de la biodiversité et renforcer les actions concrètes de protection et de valorisation de la biodiversité en Occitanie. Nos missions principales sont la valorisation de la connaissance sur la biodiversité du territoire régional, la mobilisation citoyenne, la mise en réseau des acteurs de la biodiversité à l’échelle de l’Occitanie et l’accompagnement des porteurs de projets sur la biodiversité.
En 2019, la Région Occitanie se dote d’une Agence régionale de la Biodiversité sous le statut d’Établissement Public de Coopération Environnementale (EPCE). L’ARB Occitanie est née d’une initiative ambitieuse de la Région Occitanie d’engager une réflexion autour des enjeux de la biodiversité, en étroite collaboration avec l’Agence Française de la Biodiversité, la DREAL Occitanie, l’Agence de l’eau Adour-Garonne et l’Agence de l’eau Rhone Méditerranée-Corse. L’originalité de cette agence est liée à son mode de gouvernance qui associe l’ensemble des acteurs impliqués dans les politiques de biodiversité.
