The Third Places Cooperative was born from a collective made up of creators and facilitators of third places who came together to share their experiences with other project leaders and to raise awareness of these new work organizations.
We have been detecting, supporting and bringing together third-party locations in New Aquitaine since 2011; third-place projects make it possible, when they are carried out appropriately, i.e. with all stakeholders, and according to a "bottom up" process, to (re)energize a neighborhood, a village, to be a vector of attractiveness for a territory, to create local employment that cannot be relocated in the most fragile territories...
Today our SCIC (cooperative society of collective interest) is used throughout France, but it is not intended to work "above ground", because it is impossible to create a third place without knowing the territory, the microlocal scale. We therefore seek to spread, to transmit, so that it is the local actors themselves who appropriate our ways of doing things.
To do this, we have created a school of third-place facilitators that we are deploying in other regions (Pays de la Loire and Hauts-de-France) thanks to identified local actors. We also offer tailor-made training for territorial stakeholders wishing to facilitate the emergence of third places; for example, awareness days for communities, elected officials and technicians, or ad hoc training of 4-5 days to “enable” the collectives carrying out third-place projects.
We contribute most of our work to the Commons to facilitate the sharing and deployment of our actions, but we must also support stakeholders so that they take ownership of our methods.Original language

La Coopérative Tiers Lieux est née d’un collectif constitué de créateurs et animateurs de tiers-lieux qui se sont réunis pour partager leurs expériences avec d’autres porteurs de projets et pour faire connaître ces nouvelles organisations du travail.
Nous détectons, accompagnons et fédérons les tiers-lieux en Nouvelle-Aquitaine depuis 2011 ; les projets de tiers-lieux permettent, lorsqu'ils sont conduits pertinemment, i.e avec l'ensemble des parties prenantes, et selon un processus "bottom up", de (re)dynamiser un quartier, un village, d'être vecteur d'attractivité pour un territoire, de créer de l'emploi local non délocalisable dans les territoires les plus fragiles...
Aujourd'hui notre SCIC (société coopérative d'intérêt collectif) est sollicitée dans toute la France, mais elle n'a pas vocation à travailler "hors sol", car il est impossible de faire un tiers-lieu sans connaître le territoire, l’échelle microlocale. Nous cherchons donc à essaimer, à transmettre, pour que ce soient les acteurs locaux eux-mêmes qui s'approprient nos façons de faire.
Pour cela, nous avons créé une école de facilitateurs de tiers-lieux que nous déployons dans d'autres régions (Pays de la Loire et Hauts-de-France) grâce à des acteurs locaux identifiés. Nous proposons également des formations sur-mesure pour les parties prenantes des territoires souhaitant faciliter l'émergence de tiers-lieux ; par exemple des journées de sensibilisation pour les collectivités, élus et techniciens, ou des formations ad hoc de 4-5 jours pour "encapaciter" les collectifs porteurs de projets de tiers-lieux.
Nous versons la plupart de notre travail aux Communs pour faciliter le partage et le déploiement de nos actions, mais nous devons également accompagner les acteurs pour qu'ils s'approprient nos méthodes.
