Created in 1946, the Musée de La Poste has been located since 1973 at 34 boulevard Vaugirard, a stone's throw from Gare Montparnasse.
Closed in 2015 to be completely renovated, the museum reopened its doors at the end of 2019.

Fermé en 2015 pour être entièrement rénové, le musée a rouvert ses portes fin 2019.
Sa façade, de style brutaliste, a obtenu le label "Architecture contemporaine remarquable" en 2021.
À la fois "Musée de France" et "Musée d’entreprise", le Musée de La Poste conserve et valorise d’importantes collections réparties en trois grandes sections :
- la section historique, avec les fonds photographiques (225 000 pièces), les collections historiques (37 000 pièces) et les fonds imprimés (30 000 pièces) ;
- la section artistique, avec un fonds insolite d’art moderne et contemporain (6 000 pièces) ;
- la collection philatélique, constituée de près de 400 000 pièces philatéliques.
Ces collections racontent non seulement l’histoire des activités postales, mais à travers elles, celle de la France et du quotidien des Français.
Le parcours d’exposition permanent, intégralement repensé, est organisé en trois plateaux : "La conquête du territoire", "Des hommes et des métiers" et enfin "La Poste, l’art et le timbre".
À côté de son exposition permanente, le Musée de La Poste propose également des expositions temporaires accessibles à tous.
