Jolla Ltd. from Finland develops the European mobile operating system Sailfish OS, an open Linux mobile operating system targeted for enterprise and governmental solutions. While an independent Linux platform, not based on Android, Sailfish OS can run common Android apps, a technology Jolla also licenses as a standalone solution to other Linux-based platforms.

Our company was born in 2011, with roots in Nokia and MeeGo. We believe in openness and independence in everything we do. We believe that the mobile OS landscape needs alternatives to current dominating operating systems, and our mission is to deliver on that belief.

Our crown jewel, Sailfish OS, is an alternative to dominating mobile operating systems, and the only mobile OS offering an exclusive licensing model for local implementations. On the market since 2013, and now already in its 4th generation, Sailfish OS offers a secure platform for trusted mobile solutions.

Sailfish OS is suitable for governmental needs, corporations, and any environment which needs a customized, privacy enhanced mobile OS solution. Sailfish OS, with its smooth user experience and scalable technology is perfect for devices ranging from smart watches to television size screens, and to IoT solutions.

With Sailfish OS you can also run AndroidTM apps with our dedicated App Support solution. Jolla also licenses this technology separately for different use-cases.
